Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since March of 2023.

Success also means the Russian has won twenty-one championships at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on court had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first tour victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet defended 4 initial break points in a tight final set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
